Edward Rutledge was born in 1749. Edwards’s exact birth date was November 23, 1749. His hometown, where Edward was born was in Charleston, South Carolina. Edward had four other brothers, himself being the youngest. Edward Rutledge was one of the youngest signers of the Declaration of Independence. He was at the age of 26 when he signed. Even though he was younger he already had a pretty good name for himself in the law industry. At a very young age Edward had gone to England, where he had studied law. Soon he was a lawyer-politician and held leadership of his congressional delegation. Due to the decline on Edward’s health, he knew that he may not even make it through his term as Governor. On January 13, 1800 Edward Rutledge passed at the young age of 50.
